eBay Mazinger Z – Jumbo Machinder 1st Edition. Popy, 1973 60 cm DESCRIPTION 1st edition of the Mazinger Jumbo Machinder, manufactured by Popy in 1973, a subsidiary company of Bandai, which manufactured this type of toys for the Japanese market. This is not a Shogun Warriors, which is the line of toys that Mattel manufactured with notable differences for the international market and that outside of Japan, they are common in Jumbo Machinder collections. This is and item 100% made in Japan, the first edition of the first Jumbo Machinder to see the market, and the first model of this line inaugurated by Popy. Consider it as a piece of high interest for collectors. This first edition, much scarcer than the second, is characterized by several differences with the remaining editions, which were corrections to certain design flaws of the first edition: The wheels on the feet are 4 pairs of wheels inserted in two pieces of plastic, that is, 8 wheels. These wheels were easily lost or did not roll properly, and were replaced in the second edition by riveted wheels with a metal guide, which is the most widespread design in the Jumbo Machinder and later Shogun Warriors manufactured by Mattel. The forearm were easily detached during play with the doll, so in the second and later editions they were redesigned to prevent them from falling off by adding a holding point. It is easily recognizable the difference between this first edition and the later ones because the forearms are flat in the area where they are inserted with the arm, while the second edition have a circular channel and very travelable protrusions that are inserted into the arm to prevent them from coming off. PRODUCT CONDITION. The general condition of the Jumbo Machinder is VERY GOOD. The condition rating I assign is based on my experience with this type of toys, therefore the pictures will be considered as the definitive reference. Judge the condition from the photos. It should be noted that this is a 50 year old toy that was not conceived as a collector’s item, but as a children’s toy. It is for this reason that signs of use and especially friction marks are common in this type of figures, as well as breakage in some parts. However, this piece for sale presents surfaces with slight marks and has not broken any of the teeth of the Dock missiles. It retains its 14 missiles, all original. The original box is not preserved.
