Also depicted are fighter planes (MiG-21), support vehicles, warships, tanks, and even a Scud missile launcher.Each Nationale Volksarmee Doily is manufactured from Plauen Lace: a machine-made industrial lace developed in the late 19th century. During World War II, the German city of Plauen was almost completely destroyed, and after the war fell under the Soviet sphere of influence. Eventually Plauen found a place in the Soviet planned economy, continuing to manufacture lace for military and government contracts.
