This sale is for a metal stand for the County Comm GP-7/SSB radio and this stand may also be used for the Tecsun PL-365 and PL-368 radios. The radio shown in the picture is NOT included in this sale and is used in the pictures demonstrate how the stand is utilized. For some people, this stand will be unnecessary as they use the radio for portable handheld operation almost exclusively. For others, this stand will be a very helpful tool to keep the radio upright on the table, desktop, or nightstand. The radio was designed to be comfortably held in the hand and this design also inversely serves to make it easier to topple over when placed upright on a table. In fact, we like to use the GP-7/SSB as a bedside radio and also we like to have it stand upright on our workbenches as we work. My wife often uses her radio in the kitchen as she is preparing dinner and wants to tune to talk radio on a distant AM station. When attaching the 15′ wire antenna to the telescopic antenna, it especially becomes top heavy and wants to tip over. These stands are manufactured here in the USA by a craftsman who was willing to use his talents to help hobbyists by supplying stands for others who may like to have one. The stand is a beauty! It is made from welded steel, coated with black enamel paint, and then covered with felt material to prevent scratching the tabletop or the radio. The weight of the steel keeps the radio steady, balanced, and upright. The design of the stand allows the radio user to slip the belt clip over the top of the stand to secure it. In our testing, we found that this was a snug attachment that was perfectly adequate, but we also liked the idea of having the radio secured at the bottom. To add convenience should you desire this additional attachment point, we are enclosing a velcro strap for such use (as seen in our pictures). When this metal stand first arrived in our hands, my wife (KB3GGD) and I (KB3GGC) both wanted to claim it. We both shared it while at our respective workbenches, but I also wanted it while sitting at my desk and bedside and she wanted it to listen to talk radio while making the family dinner. Thus, we shared the stand back and forth, but were pleased when a supply of them arrived so that we could each have our personal stands for our personal radios….his and her radios and stands.
