2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Pickup 1/46 Diecast Welly MPN: 43788-No Box. Sorry, no box for this totally remarkable and beautiful blue model. I’m a long time 1/48-1/43 scale collector and am truly impressed with this Jeep from Welly. The exquisite exterior graphics & Gorgeous royal blue finish, black bumpers & body color matched grille, super detailed interior, faux load in bed, and detailed undercarriage are quite remarkable. The opening door gaps are extremely consistent, fairly small, and much better than the standard Road Champs door gaps for their 1/43 scale models. The fact is that the stampings from Welly on this model are very sharp and clearly display features that it belies the price, unlike many other lower end model manufacturers. I like this one so much that I’ll be on the look out for one to put in my collection. The quality of the stampings, finish, details, graphics and assembly are much better than many popular brands like Maisto, MotorMax, Road Champs, Signature, Bburago, Solido, White Box, and even some premium models. The quality of some resin models are fantastic, but some actually lack the detail of these Welly models. Many more expensive models often have much less detail than this Jeep model. The graphics, black bumpers, black bed liner & trim, black wheels, black wheel flaring, black side steps, and graphics magnificently frame the great looking blue finish. About the color: The royal blue color of this model is darker than the stock photos show and is much more lustrious when looking at the actual model. This model would fit well in any 1:48 scale or “O” scale diorama or in any 1/43 scale collection. I have one displayed with my 1/48 and 1/43 scale pickups and trucks where it stands out with the beautiful orange color. I wax mine so the color truly shines. Although there is a stigma about pull back toy in true model collections, you shouldn’t fret, as the sharp details, fantastic graphics, and gorgeous finish are so apparent, that I have no qualms about displaying with my other 1/48 -1/43 scale models. Some are high end and premium models. About scales. Welly has always been a manufacturer who’s marketing personnel do not understand scales very well and it’s truly unfortunate because it causes exasperation, even conflict. Unfortunately, the Welly website lists this under the category of 1:34-1:39 scale, however, it is not. Please note that the full size dimensions are readily available from the Jeep.com and many other websites, so to find the accurate scale so to find the scale is just a matter of a simple math. Take the full size pickup’s length, divide by the scale model’s length. The following comparison/calculation shows that it is 1:46 scale. I’ve seen eBay sellers advertising this model as 1:31, 1:34, 1:36, and 1:39. It is not. The full size model of a 2020 Jeep 4-Door Gladiator is 218” long. If you divide this by 4.735 (4-47/64 (as measured with a Vernier Caliper to ensure accuracy) which is the length of the Welly Jeep model, it results in = 46.04 or 1/46 (1:46) scale. So, this model would look great in a 1/48 or “O” scale layout or collection. Modern trucks have grown so much in size that the 1:43 scale modern trucks look to large to me along with 1:43 scale cars, so I like these 1:46 scale Jeeps in my display with 1:43 models.
